Year 2006

ANNUAL NEWSLETTER: HOLIDAY 2006

As the New Year begins, I look forward to working with my clients to help them prepare for 2007. Whether you are buying a new home, starting a new relationship, ending a relationship or finally getting around to making or changing your Will and Powers of Attorney, my staff and I will be happy to provide you with the information and expertise to make this year an excellent one for you and yours.

Over the past year, I have helped many clients adjust to changes in family law. I have provided advice regarding separation, divorce, support payments, custody evaluations and settlements, and many other family issues.

Individually owned and operated Limited Companies are no longer protected in family litigation as they traditionally have been in commercial litigation and therefore cannot act as a shield for ones' income. Income increases with respect to child and spousal support now must be disclosed as they occur. Child support guidelines also changed in 2006 to include what is called a 'subjective test' rather than the 'objective' test for 'extraordinary expenses.' Please ask me about how these changes in law may affect you.

Also new, I have a private investigation firm I hire on behalf of clients who require their services which include background checks, vehicle tracking and surveillance, and DNA testing, just to name a few.

The beginning of a New Year is a good time to put things in order. Making or updating your Will and Powers of Attorney will put your mind at ease and I am happy to help you do this.

Keep checking my website for new and revised articles as I work to keep you informed about legal changes and offer advice about the things you need to know.

I wish you and your families all best wishes for health, peace, and prosperity for the coming year!

Yours truly,

Howard S. Dyment, LL.B.
